Fool me once…
“I'm against this trade. I always have been, and yesterday didn't help. Artest will not be good for Sacramento.”-SacKid 1-25-2006 Now just hang on, let me explain myself. When I saw Artest destroy a television camera in January of 2003 after he was ejected, I disliked him.

All I want for Christmas
Yes, it's Christmas time but I feel as though Kings fans have been left with a lump of coal. So, as a fan I thought it would be cool to compile a list of things, obtainable things given the current roster, which I would like when it comes to Kings basketball. In other words, don't let me down, get them all, wrap them and put them under the tree. These are the things I want to tear into on Christmas morn:

My how fast things change
In the world of the NBA things happen quite quickly. As of late, far too quickly for me, in fact. It may not seem like it but I write Kings articles constantly. Most of them you never see. Why, you ask? It's simple really. Too little time and too many games.

Pre-Season Chatter
Okay, okay, okay already! I hear you! So I took some time off from writing. Give a guy a break. I had to mow the lawn and wash the car or something. But I get the idea from the numerous emails, countless personal encounters and from my own guilt that perhaps my absence has been far too long. And in some strange way I'm enjoying the thought that someone actually needs me! But enough about you...

KSF LEAGUE ANALYST REPORT
Warning! This article is technically a Blog
Yeah, it's another blog, and you're going to have to deal with it. I'm bored, it's hot, there are things to write about, and I can't creatively collect my thoughts into an original piece, so I'll give you my thoughts in the form of a blog. So, in my first, and hopefully my last blog, I'll discuss the NBA Finals, the NBA Draft, the new CBA, and my disgust for the neighborhood mailman. If you wait long enough, I might say something interesting.

B-ball in June, WNBA, thinking "outside the box"
Anybody out there? Hello? Is this thing on? Man, what a long, boring off-season and it's only June! Basketball is still on TV, and I'm not talking about the kind that I still think that I could dominate as a short, white, balding guy who sits in front of his computer all day (ahem, that would be the W-NBA). And do you mind if I do one "bit" on the WNBA? It has been a while, I think I'm due for one, small comment.

The Dotties, the KSF Forum, CWebb trade talk and Peja
Only 18 games left in the season! That’s what shocked me just as much when I read the report on Brad Miller breaking his leg and being out for the rest of the season. 18 games, Brad is out 4-6 weeks and is expected to be ready for the playoffs. Kingssuperfans.com sources have told us, by the way, that the Kings big man broke his leg after experiencing a near super-human rush of energy which took him a solid 8 inches off of the ground during a lay-up drill.

Look no further, we have the arena issue solved
We've found a solution for the arena issue! Although, we doubt it will be a popular idea especially to those fine homeowners that live in the Natomas/North Natomas area. Nonetheless we think it has the potential to solve many, if not all, the major issues. Those issues have been money, location and, well, money.

The fan in me
There's a fan in me that hates all these trades. It's the same fan that longs for the days of yester-season when the Kings competed every single night and blew teams out by 15, 20, even 30 points. Other teams never knew what hit them as the Kings' highly efficient offensive machine steamrolled the rest of the league to franchise high wins for a season and a very special trip to the Western Conference Finals.

Kings give Webber the boot
Some people said that an era in Kings basketball ended when Vlade Divac decided to sign with the Lakers. If they weren't right then surely Doug Christie's forced exit made people take notice that an era had ended.

KingsSuperFans.com was started by, well, a couple of Kings Super Fans. Jim Schroeder and Tony Overbay were just your typical fans, starting every morning with the same topic of conversation, "did you see the game last night?" Then they would dissect the play of the Kings, play by play, giving their thoughts and suggestions on what the Kings did well, and what the Kings did even better.
Then "it" happened, the playoffs of 2002, and Jim and Tony became obsessed Kings Super Fans. All they could talk about was the Kings. Tony grew up worshipping the Jazz, but he knew he was 100% Kings fan as he found himself calling them old, and weak in round one as the Kings rose to the challenge and sent them to yet another playoff loss. Jim based his life around getting a hold of Kings tickets to see the Mavs and Lakers, taking only enough time away from his ticket search to complete his Kings Bobblehead collection.
Then the Kings won the championship! Well, at least that's what should have happened, but we all know the story. Whether it was the miracle shot, or the shot across the face, or the shot from the men wearing stripes, the Fakers series was a tough one to swallow. Still sore from game 6, Jim and Tony came to work the next day and wouldn't even talk about game 7. Finally, after two weeks, they gathered up enough strength to talk about the series, and at almost the same time they looked at each other and said, "now what are we going to do for the rest of the summer?"
So the idea of KingsSuperFans.com was born.
Much has happened since then. Diana Griego Erwin of the Sacramento Bee kicked us off with a bang with a great writeup. Even News10's (at the time) Dana Jacobson did a nice little package on us. We like to think it was that package that catapulted her into her new, national, ESPN career (your welcome, Dana). Tony was even quoted in the New York Times, impressive, eh?
Just when you think it can't get any better, in 2002 KSF.com is awarded our first (but not last) Dottie award for Best Sports Website of Northern California. As it turns out KSF.com would win again in 2004 (there were no 2003 awards) for back 2 back awards for Best Sports site of Northern California. The fun doesn't stop there, oh no, KSF.com, in a coup not seen since the fall of the Berlin Wall, takes the coveted Top Dot award for Best overall site in 2004. And we've only just begun...

| Tony Overbay Tony has long held a dream of playing in the NBA. Standing a mere two feet smaller than Rockets #1 Draft Pick Yao Ming, Tony is regularly (and surprisingly) left off the invitee list to the NBAs annual pre-draft camp in Chicago. Tony hasnt given up, however, and he often teams up with the likes of Peja and Chris Webber to routinely defeat a number of household name pro players in 3 on 3 street basketball games (OK, on his Playstation).
At 35, Tony still holds to the dream of being the oldest and least talented player ever to be drafted in the NBA. Although Tony grew up Utah Jazz fan by default (he grew up in Utah, was short and white so by law he idolized John Stockton), he quickly made the conversion to Kingdom shortly after moving to Sacramento in 1993. His fascination with the Kings was further solidified when the Kings drafted Bobby Hurley in 1995. Tony still holds to this day that he could have taken Hurley in a game of one-on-one. Tony is an avid basketball player and can routinely be found playing ball in his "hood" taking other thirtysomethings to the 7-foot hoop (almost able to palm a mini-ball) in a vain attempt to return to his youth.
Tony is a Sagittarius who loves running, vanilla ice cream smothered with semi-sweet chocolate chips and watching Sponge Bob Square Pants with his wife, three daughters and son. When Tony is not writing for KingsSuperFans.com he can be found beginning (and not finishing) many household projects. Above all, Tony enjoys spending time with his family; showing them his high school trophies and letterman’s jacket and making up grandiose tales of his athletic accomplishments. By day Tony runs his own technology company, Diskology, Inc., and he can also be found writing bi-monthly columns in the Lincoln Newsmessenger. Tony can be reached at tony@KingsSuperFans.com.

Jim Schroeder - Jim used to have a half court in his back yard when he was growing up. So, when it comes to balling he... really... sucks. One time, playing against a bunch of fifth graders, he actually got a pass to go to it's intended target, and, we're told, even made a shot during a game of HORSE. Unfortunately for Jim, this can't be verified even after extensive interviews.
Growing up in Orange County, Jim was exposed to the Fakers at an early age with many visits to The Forum. In his move to Fair Oaks lost touch with the NBA in general while exploring other sports further, namely soccer. Jim played soccer competitively for several years and throughout high school.
Eventually the Kings moved into Sacramento during Jim's high school years. Even though they sucked he went to a few games, including some at the original ARCO Arena.
Now 33, Jim's professional career has him working with a software company which has nothing to do with basketball whatsoever. But as luck would have it, Tony also worked for the same software development firm. From the day that Jim met Tony, it was Jim's desire to make Tony work for him. Jim's sinister plan has almost come to fruition.
Jim has a wonderful family, a wife and two kids, whom are all obsessed with the Wiggles and eating popsicles. We've been told that Jim added an extra freezer to the garage to help facilitate one of the two above fascinations of his family. But, again, even after surveillance, and countless dollars spent on private investigators we can not confirm this.
Jim can be found working late into the evening at jim@KingsSuperFans.com or posting in the forums.

About the KingsSuperFans Contributors
We admit, KingsSuperFans.com is a pretty cool website and we're proud of our accomplishments. But, we couldn't have done it without the help of these excellent friends we've met along the way. Here's a little bit about those we consider to be excellent contributors to this website, whom we like to call our, "Starting Five." Thanks!

| KINGSFREAK!!! (aka KF!!!) - KF!!! likes to think he is good at basketball. In fact, he compares himself to the liking of Peja Stojakovic. In fact, KF thinks he's Peja Stojakovic, that's why he always rips on Peja. He claims he has hit 27 three-pointers in a row once, yet nobody was around, and if you ask him to do it again, he'll go 1 for 10 and blame it on his knee. You can watch him in action schooling 12 year-old white kids who think they are black at Summerfield Park in West Sacramento.
KF has lived in West Sacramento his whole life, which probably explains why he is so screwed up. He has always been a huge fan of the Kings, in fact, one of his oldest memories is going to a Kings game. Not only has he suffered through his life in West Sacramento, but he also suffered through the days of the L-Train, Mitch Richmond, and Duane Causewell. When the Kings made the playoffs in 96, KF died at the age of 8. For some reason, by some miracle, he was resurrected, but nobody seemed to care. When the Kings made the playoffs in 99, he died again. He then showed up a few days later to watch John Stockton bury the Kings in the last 12 seconds of game 5 that year. Again, nobody cared.
The persistent dying has stopped, now, and KF can be found posting on the KingsSuperFans boards. He also writes articles once in a while. KF enjoys watching basketball of any kind, playing video games of any kind, and eating mysterious foods of any kind. Once in a while, KF goes to school at River City High School in West Sac (Raider Pride!!! Oh, wait, we don't have much to be proud about...). KF is an aspiring writer (particularly, a sports writer), yet he can barely put words together to make a phrase. In fact, the self-discovery of KF's illiteracy has forced him into being interested in engineering. He will, most likely, be attending UC Davis for the Fall 2005 year. KF also enjoys people saying that they are simply not as good as him.
(Note: West Sacramento is a perfectly nice city. After all, we have all those, uh... Raley Field. Visit Raley Field! (Paid for by the West Sacramento City Council))
Andrew "SacKid" Bauer Graduating High School the same year as LeBron James, SacKid rose through the ranks faster than James could have dreamed. Within ten days of registering with KSF, at the age of 16, SacKid became a moderator of the best Kings website on the net. A year later, he found himself a contributing editor and forum administrator of the award winning, KingsSuperFans.com.
Born and raised in Sacramento, but in a baseball family, it took him a while to get into the NBA. Once he did, there was no turning back. Today he thinks back to when he cheered Tyus Edny and stood in line at Carl’s Jr. for Mitch Richmond’s autograph and smiles.
After Mitch Richmond demanded a trade, he moved to Naples Italy for three years. Back then, the Kings did not get many nationally televised games, and even fewer made it on to the one American channel he had access to (AFN). Much to his dismay, he largely lost touch with the team.
After returning to California in 2000, he quickly familiarized himself with an almost entirely new roster he began to support the Kings from the heart of Southern California. Although he had to suffer the Kings loss in the 2001 Western Conference Finals in isolation, it served as his motivation to find a place where he could discuss his team with other fans. The rest is history.
SacKid supports the Sacramento Kings rain or shine, and can be spotted driving around with his Kings flag and KSF License plate frame proudly displayed, no matter where he may go.
G-Naps - G-naps has been a fan since the Kings came to Sacramento. Not only has he been a fan but its approaches an unnatural obsession. He still remembers his first game at arco 1.0 vs the sonics. The kings won it in overtime and he got reggie theus’ autograph after the game.
G-naps moved from Northern California to Southern California in 1995 and has been preaching the way of the Kings to the legions of Laker fans since day one. He still is looking for a copy of the game 6 2002 WCF since he decided to go to Ireland for a week instead of being there for his beloved Kings.
Today SacKid is attending the University of Wisconsin Madison, where he is working towards a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. In a year and a half, SacKid will be able to say he is an administrator and contributing editor for the award winning KingsSuperFans.com and holds a degree from the prestigious school of Journalism at one of America’s top Universities. Take that, LeBron! |

Samurai Girl 31 (aka SG) - Although her favorite player, Scot Pollard, has left the ranks of the Kings and taken his mutton chops with him, SG continues to use his name and picture as her avatar. Luckily, his replacement, Brad Miller, has made the grieving period surprisingly pleasant.
SG spent most of her life in Northern California, living everywhere from Marysville to Davis to downtown Sacramento. As a young girl, she attended countless games at Arco, watching Mitch Richmond almost single-handedly keep the Kings from getting shut out night after night. Unfortunately, right around 1998, Kings tickets suddenly and inexplicably became a lot harder to come by, so she hasn't attended a game at Arco in many long years. (If this sob story has moved you, feel free to donate your own tickets to help end her suffering.)
In 1999, SG moved to Los Angeles (into the lion's den, as they say), just in time to watch the 8th-seeded Kings take the 1st-seeded Lakers to five games in the first round. Although she wore her lucky shirt during each game, and prayed to gods of several different denominations, the Kings fell just short of knocking LA out. Still, fun was had by all Sacramento natives during that series, as no one really expected the upstart Kings to pose such a challenge. Widespread mockery of LA began, and thus, a rivalry was born. SG certainly did her part to feed the flames, risking life and limb by wearing her Kings paraphernalia all over SoCal, and aggressively defending her team to any Lakers fans who were stupid enough to try to challenge her to a battle of smack-talk. Since that season, she has attended every Kings/Clippers game at Staples, and has gone into enormous personal debt by getting the NBA League Pass every year and funding beer-fueled Kings parties at her apartment.
In her non-Kings related life, SG plays way too many video games, paints, cooks, travels, and writes. She has aspirations of becoming a professional writer, and will be studying to get her masters degree in London next year. She is absolutely convinced, a la Murphy's Law, that the Kings will win a championship next season, because she won't be around to see it.
The Once and Future Kings (Super)Fan! (aka OAFKF) - Born on a 110° July evening, the Once and Future Kings Fan was a Kings fan even before he was born. Yes, that's correct folks; his mother attended Kings home games during her pregnancy... hope the beer back then was too expensive for her, or else that might explain a few things...
Anyway, this die-hard fanatic was born and has lived in Sacramento since the very first Kings team arrived in 1985. Yes, those were the days--and he claims he can remember them so well, too! When asked to recall some memorable moments he said, "Like when that one thing... um, well... Oh yeah, there was the time when... oh, see, er, uh..."
Ok, so maybe he couldn't remember all the way back to that original team, but hey, he was sure born when they came here, so he's forever linked to this team and this city.
Anyway, this fan has seen his share of Kings success and failures; thankfully, the latter were too long ago to remember and the former are in the here and now and we can all appreciate that! But among his fondest Kings memories include:
- The 1996 Playoffs: the first year, since he could recall, that a Sacramento team had made the playoffs. He went to one game here in town, attending with his parents and members of my church up in the nosebleed sections. The Kings lost that game, but it was his first (and, thankfully, not last) experience of the playoff atmosphere at Arco
- The 1999 season: this was the first year that his dad didn't have his premium seats (section 108, row F, seats 4 and 5), and he's made him remember that ever since; but this was also the first time since 96 that the Kings made the playoffs, and the first year that Sac-Town got to know C-Webb, White Chocolate, Vla-D, and the rest of the crew we've come to know and love
- The 2002 season: who can't put this as an all-time best (and, for quite a few, worst) Kings moment; Mike Bibby comes in, the Kings win 61, and we lose to the Lakers in the WCF... *sigh* (nostalgia hurts)
Anyway, those are just a few. But there are plenty more memories to be had. He was once a Kings fan, and he will be in the future. For now, though...
HE'S A KINGS SUPERFAN!
